The SABAI Top is a light, airy summer top featuring a boat neckline. It is very beginner-friendly, requiring only a few basic techniques, making it an ideal project for those new to knitting. In addition to the SABAI Top No. 1, which features ribbed edges, there is also a second version worked entirely in stockinette stitch: the SABAI Top No. 2.
The SABAI Top No. 1 is knitted seamlessly from the top down. It begins with a 1/1 ribbed neckline worked in the round, followed by increases that shape the slanted shoulders. For the armholes, the front and back sections are worked separately back and forth. The pieces are then joined, and the body is continued in the round. The top is finished with a narrow ribbed hem and a subtle rolled edge.
As the top is worked from the top down, it can (and should) be tried on while knitting, allowing you to easily adjust the length to your preference.
