Flock & Friends Advent Calendar day 2 - Distance Scarf by Olga Putano Designs
Welcome to Day 2 of the Flock & Friends Advent Calendar! 🎄✨
Today’s inspiration is a beautiful small scarf with delicate cable details: The Distance Scarf by Olga Putano Designs. This elegant piece can be worn as a classic neck scarf or styled as a chic headband — a versatile little accessory that suits many wardrobes.
The pattern calls for fingering weight yarn, though the original sample was knitted in DK, which means you have plenty of flexibility when choosing your yarn. The scarf is worked flat from tip to tip with simple, intuitive cables worked only on the right side of the fabric. Clear instructions make it easy to adjust the length, so you can customise it to your liking. It’s also a perfect travel-friendly project and would make a thoughtful handmade gift for yourself or someone special.

I wasn’t entirely sure which yarn to pick, but clearly I’m in a green phase at the moment! My two recommendations are Juniper in Harvest Hues 4ply (1) and Sage Sprig in Devonia 4ply (2). Both would suit the pattern beautifully, offering a lovely contrast between a deeper and a lighter shade of green.
I’d love to know: are you team dark green or light green for this project? Or would you choose a completely different colour? Let me know in the comments!
You can find the pattern here on Ravelry and the DK version here.
