Day 15 of the Flock & Friends Advent Calendar! 🎄✨

Today’s pattern is one I’ve knitted several times and in multiple sizes: the Leyre mittens by Melody Hoffmann.

This is a beautifully simple and satisfying pattern. The wrist features a delicate arrow motif which is very addictive! The rest of the mitten is worked in a gently textured stockinette, making it both elegant and easy to knit.

I’ve also made the baby version, though I skipped the details on the wrist because I worried they might feel too tight for little hands. For tiny mitts, you can also add an i-cord to connect the pair — a practical touch to help prevent them from disappearing (in theory, at least!). One skein is more than enough to knit both an adult pair and the mini version.

Yarn Recommendation

For these mittens, I love Harvest Hues 4ply by John Arbon Textiles in the colourways Borage(1), Peat(2), and Flax(3). Harvest Hues is soft, cosy, and full of depth thanks to its beautifully blended fibres. I chose earthy, lighter tones where the arrow motif and subtle textures really shine.
